Community Based Rainforest Action (COBRA) Project (2016 -2017)

FUNDING AGENCY: Goldman Foundation, USA

The COBRA project was implemented between 2016 and 2017. The major beneficiaries of the project were in-school and out of school youths in the Okpon forest reserve of Cross River State. Major outcomes of the project include: Building the capacity of 50 out of school youths in pro-forest alternative livelihoods like bee and mushroom farming as well as raising their awareness of sustainable forest resources management.

Also, 10 environmental conservation clubs were established in secondary school and each of the schools was empowered with the needed resources to establish a tree nursery with at least 1, 500 seedlings.
